The Construction Ready Training Program is a four-week accelerated NCCER ACCREDITED, hands-on construction training and certification program that is offered in five locations in the Atlanta region. The Construction Ready program connects students trainees to some of Atlanta’s top construction companies, which quite often leads to employment. This is a FREE background friendly and drug-free class for all eligible residence in the City of Atlanta and the following counties: Cobb, Cherokee, Clayton, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale. Literacy Action is launching its next cohort of Fast Track GED candidates. Students are being enrolled now. The program will begin on Monday, August 6th, and run for five weeks, Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Students are provided with a GED prep book, one-on-one counseling and advising with a Transitions Manager, and six hours of e-learning tools to supplement the classroom instruction. If you have clients who are looking to get their GED, move into vocational training, a university program or the workforce, you can either complete the GED Fast Track Referral Document (click here) and email it to Kevin Spearman ([email protected]) or have the participants call 404-818-7323 to make an appointment. Vision To Learn – free eyeglasses for children in low-income areas. Cobb libraries are the first Georgia public libraries to host VTL and to host the first VTL visits in Cobb County.

Mableton Farmers Market - This farmers market will be open Thursdays, 8:30am-12:30pm, through August 23rd. The market is at the Mable House complex, 5239 Floyd Road in Mableton across from the Post Office and Martin's restaurant headquarters. The market doubles SNAP transactions up to $50 per customer each market day. It's a win-win for customers and vendors alike. Come shop for produce and homemade items.
